"Hey there, boy. Got the low-down on any good marks to be huntin'? Haven't had a chance to check the board over in the Sandsea today."

—Headhunter

Like in Final Fantasy XII, hunts are a series of side-quests within the world of Tides of War. They are not required to achieve activity or take part in game plots, but they are a ton of fun and a great way to level up your character. In a nutshell, a hunt is a small event that one or more characters can take part in order to earn LP, Gil, items, or other favors and services, in return for completing a certain task or, more often, vaniquishing a beast of sorts. These are posted on notice boards found all around Ivalice, like Help Wanted signs.

There are three kinds of marks available...

HUNT TYPES
BASIC MARKS
These are available marks posted by NPCs. They are labeled as Rank I through V based on difficulty. The same notice may be posted on many differnet boards to reach a wider range of people. Rewards will vary depending on difficulty, but will range from 5-20 LP as well as a cash prize. You do not need to be a member of the Clan to hunt these marks.

PLAYER MARKS
These are available marks posted by played characters in game; your colleagues! They are labeled as Rank I through V based on difficulty. The notice will be posted on only one board, usually close to location of the mark or the poster's residence. So, if the poster lives in Rabanastre, you will find the notice in the Sandsea and not in Archades. Rewards include up to 5 LP as well as a sum of cash, item, or service at the discretion of the player. They may not always be descriptive, so you might end up with something you didn't ask or intend for. You do not need to be a member of the Clan to hunt these marks.

ELITE MARKS
These are available marks posted by NPCs. They are not ranked, as they are considered the most difficult mark to hunt in the game. These can include a large amount of travel as well as a higher risk of danger and possible death. The rewards, however, are much higher, as well as the added notoriety that you are a badass motherfucker. You may receive a sizeable mount of LP, 20 or more, a cash reward, as well as an item or two of higher value. You must be a member of the Clan to hunt these marks, as Montblanc himself is the one who divies these out. Please see the Clan Centurio section for more details.

Marks can be hunted at a player's leisure, and hunting one mark does not mean a character is required to hunt another. For a serious head hunter, however, there is a special group that you can join to reap the benefits of elite marks, as well as hang out with some pretty cool people.

CLANS

A group formed for the main purpose of driving beasts and fiends from civilized areas, called to action in particularly bad cases, when individuals and town watches are not deemed equal to the task. Able to react more swiftly than equivalent military units, the clans are used by many smaller municipalities as rapid-response peacekeepers. As a result, few clans' activities need heed the boundaries between territories, and they move freely across wastes and sacred lands alike.

Clans exist throughout Ivalice, the majority of them being quite small. Still, of those clans operating in the largest cities, many have earned a name for themselves through their accomplishments. Clan Diatroma of Bhujerba and Clan Buckaboo of Balfonheim Port are some of the more famous regional clans. Of late, a young clan in Dalmasca by the name of Clan Centurio has become a household name. Along the Phon Coast, bands of hunters fulfill the role of clans, hunting local monsters and keeping the peace.

"Our clan has a very strict entrance examination. We should begin yours at once... And you pass. Moogles are quick to make up their minds, kupo."

—Montblanc

CLAN CENTURIO
An elite clan having its clan hall in the Royal City of Rabanastre, formed by the young moogle, Montblanc. That the relatively new Centurio is quickly making its mark among the clans is thanks in no small part to Montblanc's encouragement of cooperation between members, and all Centurios' dedication to getting the job done. Centurio is renowned for welcoming hunters of all races, its founding members including a nu mou, Ma'kenroh, and a viera.

Joining this clan is easy enough. All you had ot have done is participated in a hunt. That does not necessarily mean that you were the one to make it a success, but that you took part in it. Please see this post for details about joining the clan.

PLAYER CLANS
Building from the model of Clan Centurio, players in the game can make their own clans. They can be just as open and welcoming, or have a more specific purpose that may not be available for al…main stream purposes. It is completely up to clan founders. If you want to make your own clan, there are a few requirements before you can apply.

I. The Clan Founder should be a character that has been in game for at least two months without any issues on the Activity Check.
II. A new clan should have at least three interested members before it can be established. This can include the founder.
III. There must be an agreed-upon location for the Headquarters where people can find you. It doesn't have to be an extravagent, it can even be in an alley behind someone's shop, or in someone's attic. You just need to make sure it doesn't immediately intrude on an existing Clan's position.
IV. The Clan Founder must have a post in their journal or create a clan community to keep an updated list of clan members as well as a place for people to request hunts.

If you're interested, you can reply to this post with a comment header that says [ CLAN APPLICATION ]. Then, plase fill out the form below and fill it out in said comment. Please allow 2-3 days to be processed by the mods. If we have any questions, we will ask.

HUNTING MARKS

All available marks will be posted in the main community once a week. If the mark is posted to a specific clan, it will be linked back to that clan's individual page. For marks available only in the community post, characters may sign up by commenting to that post. If it is can specific, they must follow the link and comment to the mark post in that clan's journal.

NPC Marks will be handled as a sort of free for all. Anyone interested can participate in the mark, and the result of who was successful will be chosen via Random.ORG. This will give everyone an equal opportunity to take part in marks as well as get some good hunts under their belt. Rewards will be given to the character(s) who successfully complete the mark.

Player Marks will be handled on a case-by-case basis by the character that posted the mark. It will be first come first serve in some cases, or on whoever the character likes best. Rewards will be given to the character(s) who successfully complete the mark.
